Russian River Brewing Company was established in 1997 by Korbel Champagne Cellars among the majestic redwoods in West Sonoma County. After 6 years, Korbel decided to get out of the beer business and agreed to transfer the brand and all recipes to their head brewer, Vinnie Cilurzo. Vinnie and his wife, Natalie, were excited to pursue their passion for craft beer together and opened their first brewpub in Santa Rosa in April 2004.

Having a great time connecting with old friends, checking out the expo hall and attending educational seminars. Enjoyed an inspirational keynote with two amazing women- Beny Ashburn, co-founder Crowns and Hops, and Fawn Weaver, founder Uncle Nearest Whiskey. And yesterday we attended the big check presentation by Garrett Oliver for the MJF Foundation to which we contributed again this year!

We here at RRBC are proud supporters of the Michael James Jackson Foundation dedicated to funding scholarships for Black, Indigenous and People of Color within the brewing and distilling trades! Since its inception, the MJF has succeeded in sending 44 scholarship recipients to brewing and distilling schools. Athletic Brewing, Pinhook Bourbon and Lallemand have combined efforts to lead this year’s fundraising challenge by matching dollar for dollar up to the first $100,000! So far they have raised $86,000 including RRBC’s $10,000 donation! This match challenge ends at the start of the Craft Brewers Conference in Vegas which officially kicks of this Monday. Let’s help the MJF achieve this major fundraising goal by tagging your favorite breweries and give them a friendly nudge! Join us this Saturday, April 20th, at our Downtown Santa Rosa pub when the doors open at 11am! This very special event is first come, first served, with no reservations or tickets required. I strongly recommend arriving before we open to increase your chances of securing a seat in the pub and a taste of the Zwanze beer! First 145 guests will have a chance to purchase one 6-oz pour of the Zwanze beer. Cantillon shipped one small keg of 8 different beers and we will run out quickly!
